Kiwi-built BAJ opens registrations for phased nationwide transport marketplace rollout

The platform brings Ride Bidding, taxis, airport transfers, intercity travel and tourism opportunities into one New Zealand-focused system.

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — BAJ Technologies Limited has opened registrations across New Zealand as it begins the phased rollout of BAJ, a multi-service digital marketplace for passenger transport and tourism.

The platform is designed to bring several types of travel into one system, including Ride Bidding, taxi bookings, airport transfers, long-distance travel and tours. Customers will be connected with participating independent drivers and transport businesses rather than BAJ operating every journey itself.

Through Ride Bidding, a customer can suggest a fare for an immediate trip and eligible nearby drivers can accept the request or make a counter-offer. Taxi services will support both immediate and scheduled requests, while long-distance and tourism bookings will give transport and tour partners access to additional types of work.

BAJ is opening registrations nationally while service activation is introduced in stages according to driver availability, local demand, compliance checks and operating partnerships. The initial focus includes major cities, regional centres and tourism destinations across the North and South Islands.

The platform also includes a Driver Operator Network, which will allow approved transport businesses to share selected booking opportunities when they are fully booked, outside their normal pickup area or do not have a suitable vehicle available.
