BAJ Nationwide Driver Onboarding Update: Application Reviews and Next Steps

baj-driver-new-zealand-verification-update

BAJ New Zealand is currently processing a high volume of driver and fleet applications from cities and regions across the country.

Many drivers have contacted us asking why their documents are still showing as pending after registering one or two weeks ago. We understand that drivers are waiting to know what happens next, so we want to provide a clear update on the current onboarding process.

BAJ is launching as a nationwide platform rather than starting with only one city. This means our team is reviewing applications from drivers, taxi operators, fleet owners and other passenger-service providers from many different parts of New Zealand at the same time.

The response from drivers has been strong, and we appreciate everyone who has already registered.

Driver Applications Are Still Being Reviewed

At the moment, our team is continuing the document verification and application-review process.

Each application needs to be checked carefully before a driver can be approved to operate through BAJ. Depending on the driver’s service type and vehicle, this may involve reviewing driver and vehicle information, passenger-service documentation, Certificates of Fitness, insurance information and other documents required for the selected services.

We are not approving applications simply based on how quickly they were submitted. The purpose of the verification process is to make sure the required information is complete and suitable before accounts are activated.

For this reason, some applications may remain in review while our team works through the nationwide registration queue.

Drivers Requiring TSL Support Are Also Being Identified

Another part of the current process is identifying applicants who already operate under their own Transport Service Licence and those who may require further TSL-related information or support before onboarding can be completed.

Applications are being reviewed individually so that drivers can be placed into the correct onboarding pathway.

Drivers do not need to repeatedly submit the same information unless BAJ contacts them and specifically requests an updated or additional document.

If we identify something missing, unclear or requiring further verification, our team will contact the applicant directly.

Why the Process Is Taking Longer Than a Single-City Launch

Launching a driver network across New Zealand requires more preparation than opening registrations in one local area.

Alongside driver verification, BAJ is preparing operational systems, service coverage, driver categories, payment processes, regional support and other platform requirements before the next stage of the nationwide rollout.

We want drivers joining BAJ to come onto a platform that is ready to support them rather than activating accounts individually without the wider network being prepared.

That is why our current approach is to complete the main verification and preparation work first and then bring approved drivers onboard as part of a coordinated rollout.

Current Onboarding Timeframe

Based on the applications currently being processed, we expect the remaining verification and onboarding preparation to take approximately another two to three weeks.

This is an estimated timeframe rather than a guaranteed activation date for every individual application. Some applications may require additional information and may therefore take longer to complete.

Our team is working through the applications as quickly as possible while still giving each verification the attention it requires.

Approved Drivers Will Be Brought Onboard Together

Rather than activating small numbers of drivers one by one, BAJ is preparing to onboard larger groups of approved drivers as the nationwide launch progresses.

This helps us coordinate driver availability, customer demand and operational support more effectively across different locations.

Drivers whose applications have been successfully verified will receive instructions when their account is ready for the next stage.

There is no need to create another registration if you have already successfully submitted your application.

How BAJ Will Contact You

Drivers should make sure the contact details supplied during registration remain active.

BAJ may contact applicants through:

Email, phone call or WhatsApp message.

The communication may confirm that the application has progressed, provide onboarding information or request additional documents or clarification.

Please check your email inbox and spam or junk folder regularly so that an important BAJ message is not missed.

If additional information is required from you, responding promptly will help prevent unnecessary delays with your application.

What Drivers Should Do While Waiting

If your documents have already been submitted, the best action at this stage is to allow the verification team time to complete the review.

You do not need to repeatedly upload the same documents or submit another application unless you have been specifically asked to do so.

Make sure your driver and vehicle documents remain current. If a document expires while your application is under review, you may be asked to provide the renewed version before activation.

Drivers should also keep the latest version of the BAJ Driver App installed so they are ready when onboarding instructions are issued.

Follow BAJ New Zealand for Driver Updates

We encourage all registered drivers and fleet operators to follow the official BAJ New Zealand Facebook page.

We are using our Facebook page to share regular information based on the questions and feedback we receive from drivers.

If a number of drivers ask the same question about payments, onboarding, service categories, documents or platform features, we may publish an update so that everyone can receive the same clear information.

Following the page is therefore one of the easiest ways to stay informed about what BAJ is working on and what drivers can expect next.

Customer Launch Activity Is Also Being Prepared

Driver onboarding is only one part of the BAJ rollout.

Our team is also preparing nationwide customer awareness and advertising activity so that, as approved drivers become available, customers can begin discovering BAJ and requesting transport through the platform.

Drivers will start seeing more customer-focused BAJ advertising as the rollout progresses.

The objective is not simply to register drivers. We are building both sides of the platform so that driver availability and customer demand can develop together.

Thank You for Your Patience

We appreciate the patience of every driver, fleet owner and transport operator who has registered with BAJ.

The volume of nationwide interest means the verification process is taking longer than some applicants originally expected, but the work is continuing.

If you registered one or two weeks ago and your documents are still pending, this does not necessarily mean there is a problem with your application.

Please allow our team the additional time required to complete the reviews.

If we need anything further from you, we will contact you directly. If your application is ready for onboarding, you will receive the next-step information through the contact details provided during registration.

Thank you for being part of the growing BAJ driver network across New Zealand.
