BAJ HELP CENTRE · NEW ZEALAND

BAJ’s Trip Operator Network lets eligible businesses create, share and coordinate transport jobs with approved drivers. This includes tour suppliers who dispatch rides from their mobile app or desktop supplier panel, as well as transport businesses sharing work across the network.

What the Trip Operator Network Does

What is the BAJ Trip Operator Network?

It is BAJ’s business-to-business transport booking and dispatch workflow. Eligible tour suppliers, fleet managers and transport operators can create or distribute passenger transport jobs to approved drivers or participating operators using the network.

Who is the network designed for?

Eligible tour businesses, taxi and fleet operators, travel coordinators and other approved transport-related partners. A business may use the network to organise hotel transfers, airport pickups, sightseeing trips, group transport or overflow work.

How is Trip Operator Network different from regular Ride Bidding?

Ride Bidding starts with a passenger proposing a price to available drivers. Trip Operator Network starts with an authorised business creating or sharing a transport job for fulfilment by an eligible driver or operator under a business workflow.

Is this the same as listing a day tour on BAJ?

No. A tour listing markets and sells an experience to travellers. The Trip Operator Network manages a transport task that may be part of that tour or a separate booking. The same approved tourism supplier may use both features.

Does BAJ guarantee that every posted trip will find a driver?

No. Acceptance depends on the job details, participating drivers, licence and vehicle suitability, timing and availability. A posted job must not be represented to the passenger as assigned until the necessary acceptance is confirmed.

Dispatching from the Mobile App or Desktop Panel

Can a tour supplier dispatch rides from both app and desktop?

Yes. Approved tourism suppliers can access the Trip Operator Network dispatch function from supported BAJ mobile-app and desktop supplier-panel workflows. The precise menu and actions depend on the account permissions and current software version.

What trip details should the supplier enter?

Enter the pickup and drop-off addresses, date and time, passenger count, suitable vehicle requirement, itinerary or stops, contact instructions and agreed fare or offered driver amount as required by the workflow.

How do I send a transport job to drivers?

Open the Trip Operator or dispatch area, create the job with complete journey information and use the available dispatch or network-sharing action. Check the resulting status and responses before treating the job as allocated.

Can I dispatch airport pickups, hotel transfers and sightseeing trips?

Yes, where the journey type and account permissions support the task. Give clear meeting instructions and include any relevant airport, luggage, group or multi-stop requirements.

Can I arrange several rides for one multi-day itinerary?

A tour business can coordinate individual transport jobs for different itinerary legs where the feature supports them. Make each transfer clear about date, pickup, passenger count and assigned driver so there is no confusion between journeys.

Can I send work to my own team or use external network drivers?

A supplier may manage authorised internal driver arrangements and eligible external network dispatch options where offered. Follow the relevant permissions, assignment rules and company agreements for each job.

Can a travel agent or tour coordinator arrange transport for guests arriving from overseas?

A travel planner or approved supplier can enquire about coordinating guest airport transfers, hotel travel and sightseeing transport through eligible BAJ operators. Every actual trip needs accurate travel details, an authorised transport provider and explicit acceptance. BAJ does not guarantee that all destinations or vehicles will be available.

Driver Acceptance, Changes and Completion

How do receiving drivers find a network trip?

Eligible drivers access dispatched or shared jobs through the functions made available in their BAJ driver account. Visibility and eligibility depend on the service type, vehicle and network access.

Is a posted job automatically accepted by a driver?

No. Publishing or dispatching a job does not by itself mean an eligible driver has committed to perform it. Review the acceptance or assignment status before advising the customer that transport is confirmed.

What if the driver declines or no driver responds?

The operator should review the status and may revise or re-offer the booking according to the available functions. Do not promise fulfilment until a suitable operator accepts. Use BAJ support for platform issues.

Can the operator change a pickup time or itinerary?

Changes should be made through the available booking tools and agreed with the receiving driver when they affect the job. Confirm the revised details and any fare adjustment before travel.

How does the trip status or history work?

Operators and drivers should use the available job-status and booking-history records to confirm assignment and completion. Keep the reference and relevant communications for disputes or financial reconciliation.

What if the allocated driver cancels or cannot attend?

The operator should follow the dispatch workflow to seek an eligible replacement and promptly inform the customer when necessary. Any refund or amendment consequences depend on the agreement, disclosed booking conditions and law.

Posting Prices, Operator Earnings and Payments

Does the company posting a trip earn a fee or commission?

The trip creator may have an agreed operator fee or margin under the applicable Trip Operator Network commercial arrangement. Earnings depend on the amounts and booking roles displayed for that job, not a universal guaranteed percentage.

Does the receiving driver pay a BAJ platform commission?

The receiving driver may be charged according to the current driver or network agreement and the applicable dispatched job. Operator earnings and driver-side platform fees can be calculated separately. Check the transaction breakdown.

Does the person posting the trip pay on the full passenger fare?

Not necessarily. Network fees can be based on the operator’s agreed share or another clearly disclosed commercial arrangement. Verify how the current job displays the customer amount, operator component, driver amount, platform fee and taxes.

Who collects money from the customer?

Payment responsibility depends on whether the journey was taken through the tour supplier, another operator or a BAJ-managed payment flow. Confirm who is the merchant for that job and who must issue the appropriate records before dispatching.

Who issues the receipt or GST information for a network job?

The appropriate party and taxable supply information depend on the booking structure and applicable New Zealand tax law. Network participants should rely on their current BAJ statements and agreements rather than assume every dispatch is taxed identically.

Supplier Duties, Compliance and Customer Support

Who is responsible for a tour guest when a network driver is assigned?

The supplier remains responsible for its commitments under the customer booking and supplier agreement. The receiving driver is responsible for safely delivering the assigned transport service in accordance with applicable law and the accepted job conditions.

Do network drivers need NZ passenger transport licences?

Yes. The actual service must be provided under the correct applicable New Zealand driver, vehicle and transport-service requirements. The dispatch system does not replace a valid P endorsement, appropriate TSL arrangement or vehicle compliance.

Can a tour supplier post a job without owning any vehicles?

Potentially, where BAJ approves the business for the network and the supplier can fulfil its customer and contractual duties through eligible authorised providers. Access should not be interpreted as permission to provide a regulated service without the necessary approvals.

How do I report a dispatch, payment or driver allocation problem?

Record the job ID, pickup time, operator account, assigned driver and issue, then contact the official BAJ support route. Do not share passenger personal information in public forums.

Where can I read the network business overview and full terms?

Read BAJ’s Driver Operator Network information together with the relevant Supplier Platform or Driver Platform Agreement for your role. In-app job terms and the applicable written agreement govern the particular booking.

Need assistance with a particular booking? Use the support option shown in your BAJ app or the official BAJ website, and have your booking reference ready.
