Welcome to Baj — New Zealand’s First Rider-Driven Transport Platform
Baj is transforming how Aotearoa moves — giving riders the power to set their fare and choose rides across rideshare, taxis, outstation travel, and tourism experiences. No surge pricing. No guesswork. Just choice and transparency for every journey.
Our Story
Baj was created to bring fairness and control back to the transport industry. For too long, riders have faced fixed pricing and limited choice, while drivers and tour operators have worked under high commissions and rigid systems. We believed there had to be a better way.
Inspired by the hawk — a symbol of vision, freedom, and strength — Baj is building a smarter mobility network for New Zealand. Our ride-bidding technology allows riders to choose the fare that works for them and gives drivers the power to accept trips on their own terms. At the same time, tour and transport operators gain a platform designed to help them grow and connect directly with customers.
Baj is more than a taxi app. It is a people-first ecosystem built on transparency, flexibility, and opportunity. As we continue to expand, our mission remains simple: empower drivers, give riders real choice, and support local operators across New Zealand.
How Baj Began
Baj was created out of a simple idea: what if rides were built with riders in control — not algorithms? With strong roots in New Zealand’s transport ecosystem through our parent company, King Cabs, and a deep understanding of travel and customer service from our tourism arm My Holidays Diary (always available at Christchurch International Airport), Baj was designed to put fairness and flexibility first.
Why It Matters
Traditional ride-hailing uses surge pricing that leaves riders uncertain and frustrated. At Baj, you propose the fare that fits your budget — drivers can accept, decline, or counter-offer — creating a fair, transparent marketplace where both riders and drivers benefit.
What We DO
Why Baj Exists
Traditional ride-hailing platforms decide prices for you — often changing them without warning. Riders feel pressured, drivers feel constrained, and trust is lost.
Baj was created to change that.
With Baj, riders propose the fare they’re comfortable paying, and drivers choose whether to accept or counter-offer. This creates a fair, open marketplace where both sides stay in control — especially during quieter periods or longer trips where flexibility matters most.
Built on Real Transport Experience
Baj is not an overseas experiment. It’s built on decades of real-world transport operations in New Zealand.
Backed by King Cabs, and supported by our tourism arm My Holidays Diary, Baj combines local knowledge, professional drivers, and reliable service — including daily operations at Christchurch International Airport.
This means better standards, better support, and a platform designed for New Zealand conditions.
